OpenMoko first build =)

So i finally managed to build OpenMoko on my own computer. After trying to configure the build environment manually (remember, I'm a Linux newbie) I finally understood what the MokoMakefile was all about. Sooooo simple, just run the wget command to get the makefile and run "make install" and everything is set up for ya. After some initial glitches with gcc 3.x everything was built in one loooong sweep. I tried to build a separate HelloWorld application which also worked so now I'm all set to go =)

It seems life is constantly getting in the way of.... life....

OMG i'm so tired.

Had to get up at 5:15 this morning to celebrate my daughters birthday. It's a pain really when they have to be at the train station at 7:00 to catch the train to go to school :-(

Anyway, i played a little more with MyMoko yesterday evening. I tried out the Trolltech Qtopia phone top which was actually a little more useful than the OpenMoko stuff. It is a bit faster to navigate and feels more like a proper product. I am going to play around with it a little more to find out battery time and its usefulness. Will keep you posted on whats happening.

I'm hoping to have a day off this week to properly install the SDK for OpenMoko but i'm guessing that I will have to wait with this until the weekend.

My OpenMoko (MyMoko) is Alive...

Yipee, my OpenMoko lives. After spending a weekend installing a Ubuntu machine, and trying the hard way to get to know Linux I have finally managed to get MyMoko up and running. Well, I probably shouldn't be to excited since I merely downloaded the prebuilt images and flashed the phone with it. So the next step would be to actually doing some real work on it. i kind of a have my hart on porting an 8-bit emulator to it, just to get things going.

Well, can't talk any longer. Gotta go and watch an episode of Stargate Atlantis.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Windows XP........

Finally got XP installed on my new notebook. The Vista adventure was not a pleasant experience. But now it is up and running again, all 6 million drivers and utilities to make it work (and it does actually work very well now).

Anyway, I also receive my OpenMoko kit today. I bought the dev.kit with a JTAG emulator just in case i should need it. So now I just need to install Linux on my old trusty lab rat. Never done that before so that'll be interesting. Got a tip from a colleague at work to start with Ubuntu, so i'll do that. I haven't had the time to unpack my Moko yet but will do so as soon as I finished this entry.

So as you no doubt have guessed, it'll be some time before the next SG-1 entry. I also received season 10 this week so I mst look at that as well. Phew, I have a lot of shit to attend to =)
